Environmental impacts of aquaculture and coexcisting industries

The project is funded by the Norwegian Fisheries and Aquaculture Industry's research funding.

The main goal of the project has been to prepare a broad overview of the knowledge base related to the environmental impact of aquaculture, as well as environmental impact from other industries with activities in the same areas as aquaculture. Requirements for the regulation of aquaculture were compiled and the scope for a more direct and differentiated regulation of the environmental impact from aquaculture was explored, based on the collected knowledge base.

The project has been a collaboration between Akvaplan-niva, the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) and Nofima.
