Simulating ocean dynamics and the dispersion of particles and chemicals in water

Akvaplan-niva oceanographers work with digital twins of the ocean and its coastal areas, and new tools to understand dispersion of particles and chemicals in water.

We apply the ocean model FVCOM and work interdisciplinary with colleagues in ecology, biodiversity, and ecotoxicology.

Amongst others we map the extent and effects of different types of emissions, model the spatial distribution of plankton, and analyze the effects of climate change on glacier systems in Antarctica.
