9 June 2023 news

The BESTBROOD project aims to evolve biotechnologies that significantly improve broodstock management methods and enhance the reproductive performance of selected emerging species (Senegalese sole, greater amberjack, spotted wolffish, and lumpfish). All these species are in an early commercial stage, but all have shown suitability for farming, high economic value, and market demand.

The project is co-funded by the BlueBio ERA-NET under the Horizon 2020 programme and the Research Council of Norway (RCN), General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) in Greece, Centro para el Desarollo Tecnológico Industrial (CDTI) and Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) Ministerio de Economia, Industria y Competividad (MINECO) in Spain and Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca (MIUR) in Italy.

The project is now entering its final phase, and project results and important findings will be presented in three public workshops hosted by the project partners. In Norway, Nord University and Akvaplan-niva invite master and PhD students to a workshop to present the results and achievements on Spotted wolffish and lumpfish https://site.nord.no/bestbrood/workshops/

The workshop will be held at Akvaplan-nivas new research station, FISK, outside Tromsø June 13-14.
